Louis Smith is the first British gymnast to win an individual Olympic medal for one hundred years. Smith began gymnastics aged four and started working with Head Coach Paul Hall at Huntingdon Gymnastics Club in 1996. He was a member of team GB at the 2010 World Championship, and won an individual silver medal on the pommel horse. In the 2011 World Championships he won a bronze medal with one of the most challenging routines seen at international level.
‘Louis has been coming here since he was six. He didn’t really stand out until he was thirteen. It’s his mental attitude not just talent and hard work.’
