The Portrait

Tony Winterbottom and Ken Livingstone
Photographed by Brian Griffin
25 January 2010, City Hall, London

During his seven years as Executive Director for Major Projects at the London Delivery Agency (LDA) Tony Winterbottom (left) was at the centre of significant London developments including Wembley Stadium. He played a key role in the delivery of London’s bid to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. In 2001, Ken Livingstone (right), then Mayor of London, saw the project’s potential for the regeneration of east London and offered the British Olympic Association essential and unequivocal support in their bid campaign.

‘The Olympic bidding process was a real team effort, but Ken was the driver.’
